You should have two files installed on your MacintoshΓÇöone called Mailstrom (the application) and one called Default Profile; (the preferences file). These two files may be installed anywhere, just as long as they are on the same volume, i.e., disk. (is this still necessary?)
1. Launch the Mailstrom application by double-clicking on either the application or the Default Profile icons.
The first time you launch Mailstrom the Preferences Window will open. The Preferences Window; allows you to personalize your communications environment by setting both system and user preferences. Will sw open too?
2. If you are eager to begin using Mailstrom, all you need to do immediately is change the Names preferences. If you wish to change all your preferences now or want more information about them, see Appendix A.
Fill in the boxes appropriately. You may want to consult your system administrator to see what the proper host names are. When you are done, click on the OK button. Your Preferences are automatically saved.
Your personal name is the english (?) text of your name.
The account name ( should it be called mail address) is the email address to whom others send mail that you should receive.
The SMTP host is the network server responsible for putting your mail out on the Internet.
The IMAP host is the server which maintains your mailbox. Two IMAP hosts are available, in case your primary host is not available at login.
3. The Open Mailbox... dialog opens.
If you are using this software for the first time, which a preferences file distributed with the program, the Open Mailbox... dialog will open automatically now. If you are adapting someone else preferences file, you must select Open Mailbox.... from the Mailbxo menu
3a To open your inbox ;on the host server specified in your preferences, click the OK button.
3b To enter a different mailbox or mailfile, type in the information for host and mailbox (see below for information about adding mailboxes).
4. In the dialogue box that now appears, Mailstrom will have filled in your account name from the information it has in your preferences. Type in your password;. As you type your password, it appears as large dots so anyone who happens to be looking canΓÇÖt read it. After you are done, click on the OK button.
